The Decade of Disruption Requires Adaptive Leadership

The message from the last few years is painfully clear: business leaders need to be able to handle and even thrive in disruption. According to world renowned leadership experts the single biggest derailer for leaders is the inability to recognize that not all problems can be solved with expertise!  Leaders are facing both technical and adaptive challenges.  Technical challenges are those that can be solved by the knowledge of experts, whereas adaptive challenges are complex and ambiguous in nature, and may be volatile or unpredictable. Solutions to these types of challenges usually require people to learn new ways of doing things, change their attitudes, values and norms and adopt an experimental mind-set

Unfortunately, most leaders haven’t been developed to do this!  They might have even been promoted because of their expertise and are quite attached to being the smartest in the room.  Adaptive challenges require leaders to recognize the limitations of their perspectives, activate the intelligence and capability of their team, and expand their own decision-making capabilities.  This session will help HR Leaders understand how the world has shifted and pathways to develop the skills their leaders desperately need to thrive in disruption.
