Some decisions like what to have for lunch do not require a lengthy process, you can just listen to your tongue and stomach to determine what you want! But other decisions – complex or wicked problems – require leaders to be mastery in framing, setting goals, gathering information, identifying solutions, deciding, and implementing. Since we don’t valorize decision-making, we often don’t think or practice the skill necessary to be masterful! Yet decision-making skills are essential for addressing conflicts, solving problems and making decisions – especially in complex situations. What parts of decision-making are we not leveraging? How might we create direction for the organization that would activate these capabilities?
