Using Power to Activate Results

Leadership is normally taught as ‘how things ought to be’ or how to self-regulate behaviors. Yet, the reality of how leadership is done is vastly different. There is an element of self-regulating, but more importantly is having a sophisticated understanding of power and ethically using to activate results within a system. The most effect leaders have a high need for power and high ability to self-regulate. In this session we will explore seven types of power and our individual and collective use of them. What types of power do we rely on? What are the outcomes of that approach? What types of power does the organization need us to use more of? How might we go about doing that?
